Worker ants forage for food by traveling in well defined trails once a food source has been located. Ants are often regarded as a nuisance pest in around buildings. Swarming may occur within premises which can be particularly disturbing for occupants.
Colonies are located in soil, wood and among rocks. Ants pose a health risk to humans as they can carry disease organisms which cause dysentery and salmonella. Ants may also bite or sting humans.
